Building a Better Work Shirt, Inch by Inch

Body sizing and fit preferences change over the years, and our research indicated that it was time for us to make some minor tweaks to the core lineup of Red Kap work shirts.

  • First, we increased the length of the back by one inch. This makes it easier for our work shirts to be tucked in - and stay tucked in - through physical work days. For those who choose to wear their shirt untucked, the additional length will provide a neater, more modest appearance.

  • Next, we added 1.25 inches to the sleeve length. This change will enhance the wearer's experience by allowing a greater range of motion and neater appearance.

  • The final change we made was to increase the back yoke width by 1.5 inches. This modification also improves the wearer's range of motion, resulting in even greater comfort and flexibility while on the job.

Red Kap is continuously seeking ways to improve our garments and we're excited about this updated fit. The feedback from individuals involved in wear tests was nothing but positive and we feel certain you'll agree.

Most Righteous Ride

We're proud to be a part of the automotive community and are continuously working to develop apparel that fits the unique needs of that industry. But that doesn't mean we can't have some fun, too! We've just launched a new interactive website where two cars are pitted against one another to see which will reign supreme. Who would you pick as the winner in a battle between a 1950 Chevy vs. a 2008 Mercedes? What about a Ford Model T vs. '58 Dodge Charger? Their fate is in your hands at www.mostrighteousride.com.

And if you're wondering how your own ride stacks up against the competition, you're in luck! From the site, you can upload a photo and it will be included in the battle. Plus, we'll send you a link that you can share with your friends so they can support your quest for righteousness.

Get all the latest Most Righteous Ride updates on Facebook - you never know what car will be in the top spot tomorrow.

Fill the Cab Contest Winner Announced

Our recent Fill the Cab contest was a huge success! Out of over 8000 entries, one winner was selected to win $5000 worth of Snap-on® tools. That winner, Kurt Schultz from St. Augustine, Florida was speechless when we called to tell him he'd won. After the reality set in, we had a chance to find out a little more about the lucky winner.

Red Kap: So, what kind of work do you do?
Kurt Schultz: I'm a service technician at my local Honda® dealership; I've been employed there since October of last year.

RK: That's great - you probably already wear Red Kap to work every day! Red Kap manufactures the products for Honda's official uniform program. How did you receive your training to be a tech?
KS: I went to First Coast Technical College in St. Augustine for a year and a half.

RK: How did you get into this field?
KS: Honestly I didn't get into cars until I got my first one from my girlfriend's (at the time) brother, who was a service tech for Chevy. Seeing him work and knowing how to fix almost anything made me really want to look into that. I enrolled in shop class in high school and then continued onto technical college afterward.

RK: What's your favorite part of the job?
KS: I'm big on electronics, I've always had a knack for working with electronics and being a service technician gives me a big opportunity to put that into a productive practice.

RK: What Snap-on tools are you most looking forward to receiving?
KS: Any kind of multimeters or other electronic diagnostic equipment is definitely what I'm looking forward to getting.

RK: What's your dream car?
KS: My dream car without any doubt is the Nissan GT-R - for so many reasons, mainly its affordability considering what they give you in the package (sleek styling, while managing to look extremely aggressive, a track computer built in to monitor lap times, lateral g-forces, etc, not to mention the twin turbo engine with plenty of power). It's a car I could see myself driving on the weekends and to the track to get the urge out of my system to unleash its power on the road!

Congratulations again, Kurt!

Red Kap Videos Done Right

We know that our workwear speaks for itself, so we went with a simple concept: a man or woman working hard, wearing Red Kap. One real person doing real work in a real workplace-no actors, no pretending, no elaborate sets.

We captured a baseball bat maker covered in wood chips, a custom hot rod mechanic hovering over the engine of a '65 Comet, and a warehouse forklift operator harnessed to a cherry picker. The crew sterilized cameras to film the milk pasteurization process, and wore hard hats and safety glasses to film a concrete pour. They were out of the boundaries of simple filming techniques, and within new boundaries usually marked EMPLOYEES ONLY.

It was easy to see how the right people in the right workwear get the work done right. Their focus, drive and commitment to completing jobs the right way is what motivates us to keep doing ours. We've always known who wears the Red Kap name-but to see them in action made us that much prouder to be part of it all.

We figured the best way to show the real work was to get down and dirty where the real work happens. And when we did, the result was nothing short of Kaptivating.

The Red Kap Sessions

So as we began putting together our game plan for producing a series of 10 videos introducing consumers to the latest Red Kap workwear, naturally the subject of music came up. Typically, on a project like this you go with prerecorded production music.

Simply stated, we knew we could do better. After all, Nashville, home of our headquarters, is known as Music City. You can't swing a cat here without hitting some other cat who has played on all kinds of amazing albums. And country isn't the only flavor they serve here.

The game plan was actually pretty simple: assemble a roomful of killer musicians for an afternoon. Then stand back and let them do their jobs.

At the end of the day, we came away with exactly what we'd hoped for: a toolbox full of tracks perfect to set the tone in videos profiling everyone from a hardworking truck driver to a master woodworker.

We're thrilled with the results, and hope you will be too.

This is music done right.
